Editor's review

Jason Collett seems to do no wrong. Not only is he a member of one of the breakout indie bands of 2004, Broken Social Scene, he also holds his own in the acoustic singer-songwriter camp, producing a fine collection of intimate, desolate acoustic songs. Some musicians make it seem so easy.

Biography

With Here's To Being Here, Collett refuses to be bound by the confines expected of a singer-songwriter. The album is a throwback to a time when booze-soaked guitar-rock and poignant acoustic numbers decorated the dials of FM radio. Recorded with his touring band, Paso Mino, the collaboration gives the new material a sound closer to watching Jason Collett live — they tracked most of the record together as a full band in order to capture the essence of their stage performance. The album was recorded and produced by Howie Beck and features guest performances by fellow Broken Social Scene member and Apostle of Hustle front man Andrew Whiteman, as well as long time friend Tony Scherr (Norah Jones, John Scofield), and Liam O'Neil (The Stills) to name a few.
