Editor's review of MPS-Sudoku 2007
Sudoku might be the biggest puzzle fad to sweep breakfast tables and airport waiting rooms since the invention of the crossword puzzle. MPS-Sudoku 2007 puts these logic games on the PC, providing an inexhaustible source of puzzles for addicts.
The Sudoku rules are simple: players must fill a 9x9 board with digits from 1 to 9, so that no digit is repeated in any row, column, or 3x3 area. Easy versions provide many of the numbers to start with, while more difficult games offer up only a few hints.
This app generates games of varying levels of difficulty, and allows users to import puzzles from other sources. It can solve difficult puzzles automatically, or generate hints along the way. It also allows you to alter the size of the grid for less traditional, more difficult games. The interface is clear and flexible, allowing users to customize details such as fonts and colors and to print out puzzles to take on the go.
MPS-Sudoku is a welcome addition to the puzzle universe for both those who are just testing out the Sudoku craze and aficionados craving a challenging fix.
