Overcoming iPhone envy

iPods

Is your iPod feeling abandoned?

(Credit: CNET Networks)

If your iPod is turning green with envy or blue with neglect from the incessant roar over Apple's iPhone (check our nerve center for the latest news, reviews, and apps), it may be time to revisit the programs that made you and your iPod inseparable until now.

Seth Rosenblatt's collection of best iPodware includes iGadget, the ultimate iPod data-syncing and management utility; MediaMonkey, a hit jukebox; and the Plato Video to iPod Converter, which makes your iPod video-ready.

Wedge in those headphones deep enough; crank up the volume loud enough, and you may never even hear all that iPhone trumpeting. Just don't forget to comment below on your favorite iPod software.

iPhone dummy

I still have one of those fat screens (CRT)! I guess I'm just one of those people who gets comfy and doesn't explore too often. I don't even have a cell phone or a laptop! This way, I don't have to worry about whatever they come up with that's new. lol. Yes, I do this on purpose. I know myself, and I would want it. lol. I already have too much to carry! Thank you so much for your wonderful program. I just downloaded it today. The only problem I can see so far is that it interferes with my Norton. (That's not too hard to do. I hate norton!) Have a wonderful week!

My iPod & I are Still Inseparable
by Lorne the Canadian July 2, 2007 11:51 AM PDT
The truth is that as much hype as the iPhone has coming its way, I already have an iPod & I already have a phone. And I will advocate such programs as "Plato Video to iPod Converter" but there are alternatives such as "Any Video Converter" and others. I love having videos on my iPod, but I've learned that putting full movies or TV episodes normally isn't worth it - but this doesn't mean that I can't carry around my favorite music videos with me at all times. What I'm saying is that the iPod is still my favorite mp3 player out there, and I've even convinced both my siblings and my Mom to get their own. Viva iPod! Lorne

i don't need an Iphone
by dfstulac July 3, 2007 1:20 PM PDT
ladies and gentlemen: While I know many of you have I pods and cell phones. I have a Motorola SLVR. this is both a sleek cell phone and an itunes player. While frequently use the cell phone, I don't use the itunes player(don't find it usefull compared to my mp3 player). Additionally, I don't use the other features either. (text web multimedia) These features are just another way to seperate you from your money! I have studied the iphone compared it SLVR, and found the iphone comparable. Don't get me wrong the touch screen is cool, but the phone is too big. In my overall estimation I would prefer a much smaller basic phone. Lose the camera, e-mail ipod/mp3, etc. features. Hope this is helpfull. Dan

I had no plans to buy a IPHONE. Quite satisfied with my pda and my ipod. And for all the criticism by those who do not own one. I am sorry. Save up for the next edition because its worth every penney to own such a beautiful piece of equipment. It's history in the making and we are part of it. I am estatic because I didn't waste my money.

iPod Unusable Until iTunes Data Normalized
by MikeCopeland July 3, 2007 3:12 PM PDT
I have an iPod, and I'm using iTunes (7.1). However, I can't populte my iPod until I remove the duplicates in the iTunes library that was built when I installed iTunes. When that happend, iTunes csanned my entire system...and found all the files that are on my external HD that's my backup system. Now, everything in my iTunes library is duplicated, and I can't find any way to remove the files on my J: drive - if I could do just that, I'd have a clean 1-copy library from where I could populate my iPod. Any thoughts? TIA

iPhone is not for me

I got my iPod for a reason...I don't want to talk into it. I love my iPod and it has proven its purchases many times over. Who wants to be connected to their phone ALL the time?
