Green bloggers stash trash

February 7, 2008 11:56 AM PST

Within EnviroWoman's shrine of plastic waste saved last year are items with surprise traces of plastic in them. Paint cans, for one, have an inner plastic lining.

Recycling plastics, which are marked with seven numbers to indicate their chemical composition, can be confusing. Only plastics labeled with Nos. 1 or 2 can usually be recycled. Compostable plastics are usually labeled with the number seven, which lumps them in with less eco-friendly plastics.
